A Planet Fitness membership goes for as low as $10 per month. If you think that’s amazing, wait until you get to one of their gyms. You’d think it’s a cheapo gym considering the price of membership but it’s not. The facilities are clean, the staff are nice, and it has all the equipment and machines you could possibly need to get a good workout. I’ll discuss the Planet Fitness membership cost and benefits in detail in this post.
How Much is the Planet Fitness Membership Cost?
What I like about Planet Fitness is that the rates are the same across all locations. The membership plans they offer are:
PF Black Card® Membership
The PF Black Card starts at $24.99 per month without any commitment, and it gives you access to any Planet Fitness gym. You can bring a guest anytime. The annual fee is $49 for this plan, plus $1 Startup Fee. It entitles the member to 50% off on drinks, use the massage chairs, use of tanning and Hydromassage facilities, PF app workouts, free wifi and free in-club fitness training.
Classic Membership
This membership is $10 per month and requires a 12-month commitment. It gives you unlimited access to the home club. The startup fee is $59, plus a $49 annual fee. It includes PF app workouts, free in-club fitness training and free wifi.
A very few locations may have higher rates for the Classic Membership. For example, for the Planet Fitness Boerum Place in New York the monthly rate is $14.99.
There is a third membership plan which is offered in a few select locations. This is called the Classic No Commitment Membership Plan. It costs $15, with a $59 Startup Fee and a $49 annual fee.

Planet Fitness Customer Reviews

This may skew a bit of my review since I always went around the time they opened, so I don’t normally deal with crowds.
This is a great planet fitness! There’s something great about this location. It’s really clean, well-stocked with supplies to wipe down machines and equipment, and the weights are usually organized well.
There’s a lot of cardio machines to use and a diverse amount of machines to use as well. Usually when one is broken, it’s repaired within a week!
The staff are really nice and helpful. They are pretty lax about most things. I recommend if you’re looking for a place to start out with working out or just a place to find to do some cardio, go here!
EDIT: I don’t go to this gym anymore, but the review still stands! I left because it can get busy at times due to how popular this location is. It can get pretty packed in the mornings! However, it’s still clean, nice staff and pretty updated in terms of equipment.

I’ve been going to this gym since 2018, the place is clean and the staff is very friendly. I do wish they had the locker rooms like the one in San Diego where the lockers have their own combination locks but other than that I love this gym!

I must say, I wasn’t sure what to expect when I heard a PF was opening in West End Mall, but I have to admit I am definitely impressed. Of course the space and equipment is all brand new and shiny, but everything looks very nice and in general they did a good job with this facility. Lots of TVs around, well-organized layout, and friendly staff. I just hope they are able to keep this quality up in the coming months and over time.
Planet Fitness Membership Cost – In a Nutshell
Planet Fitness has two membership options – PF Black Card and Classic. The PF Black Card is $24.99 per month, no commitment and gives you access to all PF gyms. The Classic membership is $10 per month, with a 12 month commitment and unlimited access to the home club/gym. If you want a no-fuss gym membership that has all the things you need for a good workout, Planet Fitness is definitely a good option.
