I still remember my first Soul Cycle class. It was intense, hard, but so much fun. Back then, you can join a class for $20, but I checked just recently and a single class pack now costs $25. If you’re interested to know about the Soul Cycle membership costs, I’ll provide the details in this post.

What is Soul Cycle?

SoulCycle offers a high-intensity cardio workout that lasts 45 minutes. The majority of SoulCycle classes adhere to a similar structure. They start with a warmup song, followed by 4-6 songs at different paces. Next is an upper body workout using free weights, without cycling. The class concludes with two more cycling songs, with the last one being at a very fast pace.

Theme rides adhere to this format but feature music from a specific artist or genre, such as “Wake & Drake” or “Throwback Thursday.”

“Survivor” classes follow the same structure but last 10-15 minutes longer. Additionally, there are “90min” classes, which are essentially two 45-minute classes with a 15-minute break in between.

The only class with a different format is SoulActivate, focused on interval training. While it includes a soundtrack, transitions between movements and paces are dictated by a stopwatch rather than the music. This class also incorporates freeweights throughout, not just during the upper body section.

My friends and I took a class here (sometime last year), so this is a long overdue post, but overall our experience was good. Although one of the front desk workers seemed like she had an attitude, not exactly sure why, but otherwise everything else was enjoyable. Our instructor for the class was super energetic and played awesome music. It had been my first time attending a cycling class, so I did not know what exactly to expect. Let’s just say, the instructor WORKED us!! We were all profusely sweating, but it was a super fun workout session. I loved that the cycling instructor kept everyone motivated to keep going until the end.

I would gladly attend another session at this location. I, also, appreciate that they provide a schedule online that tells customers the name of the instructors and the time/day in which those instructors are giving the class.

I will never give a SoulCycle anything less than a rave review, but this is one of the best studios in Manhattan. They actually have two studios, one full-sized and one that’s a little smaller so that more classes can be packed in.

Everything is super clean and orderly as always and the staff are always so nice. There’s plenty of retail in the lobby, though locker space could be bigger. There are locker rooms downstairs, but the cramped stairs make for tons of traffic in between classes. Of course, this isn’t really their fault.

Regardless, I always enjoy coming to Soul and this location features some of the most prominent instructors. There are a lot of great and healthy food options in the area so I love coming up here on the weekends and having a full day of wellness.

I finally understand why so many people are obsessed with soul cycle!

I was a little nervous because soul cycle is known for being intense and culty however I decided to give it a go. When I entered the studio and told the employees at the front desk that it was my first time I was shown around and assisted with my bike set up. Don’t worry about wearing the expensive athletic gear you think you’ll need to “fit in” because you won’t be judged here. Everyone pretty much had on the same thing: sports bra, high wait leggings or t shirts.

For first time riders you can expect to pay $ 20 and you get a free shoe rental for your first time as well. After your first ride classes are $30 plus the shoe rental. After your second time ride you’ll receive an offer for a $60 3 class starter pack.

For my first visit I opted for an 8:30 am hip hop class with the instructor lance( who is an amazing instructor btw!). I’m not going to lie the class was really intense but the combination of hip hop music, dim lighting, upbeat atmosphere and the encouragement from my instructor lance to keep pushing is how I survived.

I really like how my instructor didn’t treat my class like beginners even though a decent amount of the class was filled with first time riders! I pushed myself during my class and left feeling like string cheese but that’s ok because it’s worth it!
