Charlie is a fantastic coach! I came back to CKO after a year because I had gained a little weight and I was looking for someone to motivate me. No better person than Coach Charlie! Having trained with Charlie in the past, I knew the positive impact he could have on my fitness journey. This time around, Charlie began by assessing my current fitness level, lift numbers, and discussing my goals. Over the course of 15 sessions, I saw a remarkable improvement in my strength.

My standout achievement was the progress in my deadlift – starting at 175lb for sumo deadlift and eventually reaching the same number with a conventional deadlift. For those that don’t know, the conventional has a longer range of motion and it is more challenging. Charlie created a personalized plan and our sessions were focused on things I wanted to achieve like a pull up and rope climb.

If you’re looking for a coach who delivers exceptional results, genuinely cares about your success, and makes every workout fun and enjoyable, Coach Charlie is the man.

If you are looking for the best little gym in San Diego, you need to check out CKO Miramar! I’ve been a member of CKO for about 8 years (Maybe longer. I’ve lost track). I’ve tried other gyms before and nothing compares to CKO.

Their fees are very reasonable compared to other gyms. You have access to unlimited kickboxing classes. If you want to upgrade your membership, you can also do weight training.

The gym is very clean and they have showers for those that want to work out early and then head off to work after a quick shower. Plus you get to work out with 4 of the most amazing instructors. Brendon, Freddy, Brandon, and Francis will kick your butt (In a good way). Cheryl, one of the owners, also teaches on occasion and she will kick your butt too. I burn between 500 and 700 calories per class! My husband burns over 1000 calories during the same class. So not fair, but that’s ok.

The atmosphere of the gym is ver friendly and supportive. CKO Miramar has the best members. They will give you a high five or a shout out to encourage you to keep going. Come check out the gym and sign up for a free introductory class and get 2024 started on the right foot.

TIPS: Leave an empty punching bag between members if the class is not full and wipe down your bag and mat after you workout. This is much appreciated by everyone.

Long time listener, first time caller lol. I’ve been going to CKO for just over 2 years and I can’t say enough good things about it – as you’ll notice from the length of this post. TBH, the main reason I tried CKO was because there was only one other gym within walking distance (and it’s quite literally no longer there…if you know, you know) and I liked the idea of classes rather than a traditional gym. I am SO glad I stumbled upon this place. The instructors are all incredible and within minutes of my first class I felt comfortable and not at all intimidated. They all have their own style of teaching too, so no two classes are the same which keeps it interesting. I always feel so much better after going, and unlike regular workouts I’m not counting down the minutes till it’s over. Turns out, concentrating on combos makes it harder to think about anything else haha.

If you’re looking for a new gym in Carrol Gardens, or if you (and your downstairs neighbors lol) are sick of your at-home workouts, definitely check CKO out. You won’t regret it.

Is CKO Kickboxing Worth It?

Deciding whether to join CKO Kickboxing or not depends on what kind of workouts you want and what your fitness goals are. The instructors are really good at their fitness clubs. I haven’t experienced it for myself but my friends only have good things to say about CKO. The price is reasonable for what you get, especially if you commit to a 12-month contract. If you’re unsure, I suggest you visit your local CKO gym and give it a try. Most of them offer either a free trial or a class for a very low price.
