YMCA, also known as the Y, is a global youth organization with a presence in 10,000 communities. Their aim is to empower young people by inspiring them to improve their health and well-being and encourage active lifestyles.

YMCA offers memberships for individuals, couples and families. The YMCA membership cost varies quite a bit by location. I’ll provide more details in this post.

What’s Included in a YMCA Membership?

Most YMCAs have similar facilities and amenities which they offer to members and may include: a gym, a wellness center, athletic courts like a basketball court and tennis court, gymnastic centers and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

They also have group fitness classes such as BODYPUMP, Zumba, TRX, yoga, Pilates, functional training, water exercise, cycling, fitness membership cost and more.

Members can get discounts on swim lessons, child care, gymnastics classes, sports training, personal training and other activities.

Your youfit membership also gives you access to any participating YMCA in the US so you can continue to exercise and avail of their amenities wherever you go, for work or holiday.

LOVE this place! Was welcomed by Jill at the front desk who knows everyone. Came in to get a membership so I could get my daughter swimming and it was a great value for the two of us ($155ish). They have two pools both heated and we have been going almost everyday and have been the only ones in the outdoor pool. My daughter also enjoyed the ballet class. I use the gym facilities that are nice and separated in different rooms, which makes it seem less crowded. The locker rooms are clean and roomy. Everyone is super nice and I’m really pleased with finally getting back into a gym that’s not full of people on their phones.

This place rocks! A phenomenal facility for working out. They have great family programs also.

This is one of the best YMCAs I have been to. While it can be very busy at times, I find it calms down after about 6:30 in the evening and in late mornings and early afternoons on Saturday and Sunday.

They have plenty of cardio machines and a wide variety of step, elliptical and sitting machines for people of every fitness level. Most people seem to be respectful of the rules to give up the machines after 30 minutes and to wipe them down afterward, although there’s always a few who won’t.

This facility has two swimming pools, two pool slides and a hot tub. Indoor pools are expensive to build and to maintain, so Boise is fortunate to have such a big aquatics center.

I like how the YMCA nationally recently initiated a program that allows you to use any YMCA in the U.S. when you travel. The Treasure Valley Family YMCA already had a policy that allows you to use any of their facilities in West Boise, Caldwell and the new South Meridian facility that will open in May. But it’s nice to know you can get in a workout no matter where you are.

The men’s locker room is spacious and includes showers, a sauna and steam room. Employees come in frequently and keep it clean.

I’ve found most of the Y’s employees friendly and helpful. The lifeguards rarely say hello to people as they walk by but they are diligent in keeping a close eye on the children and adults in the pools.

This is my closest YMCA and I thought I would give it a go. I started attending the 5am group classes throughout the week. I love the classes and options offered. The new location is EVEN BETTER. I just hate that once the new facility opened up, my membership increased by $10 without anykind of notification. It was months before I noticed and they said they sent emails and letters but I got NOTHING. Anyway, since the location is so nice, I let it go. It’s big, pretty and has TONS of parking. I hated the parking situation at the old location. I just wish this Y had dance classes. My favs are BodyPump and Barre.
