GoodLife Fitness is the biggest gym chain in Canada with more than 250 locations. There’s no GoodLife Fitness in the US (as far as I know). But they have partnered with 24 Hour Fitness which means members can access 24 Hour Fitness gyms when they are traveling to the US, and vice versa.

The GoodLife Fitness membership cost varies depending on the plan you want to get as well as the location of the “home club.” But it could go as low as $29.99 every other week (bi-weekly) to as high as $54.99 every other week. I’ll reveal the details in this post.

Benefits of GoodLife Fitness Memberships

GoodLife Fitness offers many benefits to its club members. First of all, they provide members access to personal trainers who can offer personalized workout plans and guidance.

Also, because they have more than 250 locations across Canada, being a member of this gym is very convenient and accessible especially since most of their gyms are open 24 hours a day. You can work out any time you want, and you’ll likely find a GoodLife Gym within 5 to 10 miles from your location.

Moreover, their gold gyms boast excellent amenities such as squash courts, swimming pools, tanning facilities, and Hot Yoga studios, all of which you will be hard pressed to find anywhere else.

GoodLife Fitness emphasizes the importance of nutrition and they are happy to provide their members with information and resources to help them structure a healthy diet.

One of the things I really like about GoodLife Fitness is that they have more than 100 locations that are “For Women” clubs. Women only gyms are hard to come by these days. The only other one I know is Curves.

Lastly, there are plenty of group classes and programs you can join especially for the higher tier membership plans.

GoodLife Fitness Membership Plans and Pricing

The GoodLife Fitness membership cost varies depending on your location. Most of their clubs have 3 membership options – Essential, Ultimate and Performance.

ESSENTIAL gives you access only to your home in shape gym. There you can use all the gym equipment, the sauna and swimming pools. You also get On-Demand Basic (online trainings and workouts) as well as be able to join the GoodLife Rewards program.

ULTIMATE gives you access to all of the GoodLife gyms. Aside from the benefits mentioned under Essential, Ultimate members get to use the Hydro Massage, Towel Service, MindDen Room, and Squash. They can join group fitness classes and recovery programs. Members can add family into their plan and be allowed to hold/pause their memberships.

PERFORMANCE gives its members all the perks of Ultimate, along with other benefits such as access to REGYMEN, Hot Yoga, Craft Boxing and PEAK Training United.

The membership rates can go as low as $29.99 bi-weekly for the Essential Membership. Ultimate membership starts at $39.99 bi-weekly, while Performance Membership starts at $54.99 bi-weekly.

Some locations may also have a 4th membership tier called Premium Membership, which gives members all the perks of Essential + access to all the GoodLife Fitness gyms. This membership is usually priced at $35.99 (bi-weekly).

How to Become a GoodLife Fitness Member

Becoming a member of GoodLife Fitness is a straightforward process. You can go to your preferred “home club” and approach the staff to inquire about membership. They will guide you through the process of completing the membership form, after which you’ll receive your access card with a barcode. And that’s it, you can use the gym amenities/facilities right away.

Or you can sign up online via the GoodLife Fitness website. First you need to choose your preferred home club and then choose a membership plan that suits your needs. Pay for your membership and then you’ll receive your access card with a barcode.

Is There a Fee to Join GoodLife Fitness?

Yes, GoodLife Fitness has a joining fee, the amount varies depending on your chosen membership plan. For Essential and Premium, the joining fee is $49.99. For Ultimate and Performance, the joining fee is $20. The joining fee is a one-time payment only.

What are the Operating Hours of GoodLife Fitness?

Many GoodLife Fitness gyms are open 24 hours. However, some of their gyms close around midnight and open early the next morning especially on weekends.

GoodLife Fitness Gym Customer Reviews

I can’t personally vouch for GoodLife Fitness because I’ve not been to any of their gyms. However, I’ve compiled a few reviews from people who have actually worked out in GoodLife gyms. See below:

I’ve been going here for a few months now — the staff are always friendly and greet you upon arrival, it has dozens of amenities at your disposal and lots of fresh towels everyday. I’m reluctant to give 5 stars because some of the machines are a little beaten up and there are some machines there should be more of (hack squat machines, hip thrust machine, leg press). It’s always pretty clean and this is one of the only gyms where you won’t find toilet paper scattered all over the bathroom floor.

Overall, it’s one of the better GoodLife’s that I’ve been to in the country!

Great location

Nice size gym

I will definitely be back again

Cardio equipment was great as well as the staff greeted me with a big smile, which goes a loooong way for me…

Thank you Motivators:)

Staff make an effort to learn your name and get to know regulars ! During covid, they have really stepped up their game to ensure everyone stays safe and comfortable while working out. One of the best gyms around with lots of workout options to offer.

Pretty decent gym that’s open 24/7 with mostly everything you need for working out. Keep in mind that it can be incredibly crowded during rush hour to the point where you might not even be able to find a machine, especially in the women’s only section, so you might want to work around that. The staff workers, although generally polite, tend to be a little bit pushy when it comes to sales. It also takes a fairly long time for machines to be fixed (up to several weeks or even months) if they need maintenance, which can be a bit of a nuisance when it’s already so crowded to begin with. I ended my membership to go to another gym for a cheaper price, but I’d recommend it if you live in the area and ensure you know what fees are included in the contract you’re signing up for.

Should I Join GoodLife Fitness?

If you’re looking for a gym that’s open 24 hours and has many bells and whistles like pools and saunas, then GoodLife Fitness might suit you. The membership rates are on the high side – the lowest price is $60 per month and can go as high as $110 per month. But if this falls within your budget then signing up should be a no-brainer.
