After five and a half seasons of loyalty, dedication, and thousands of dollars invested, my daughter was abruptly kicked out of Luxe in the middle of the season based on a rumor that she might want to quit, without a single direct conversation with us first. That is not leadership. That is gossip-driven decision making. The day before we were removed from the gym, Cat forced my child to throw a standing back tuck, in which she hurt her back and neck. When she landed it wrong, Cat simply walked away with no comfort given. During two separate cheer competitions, my child was screamed at backstage by Cat because she perceived a stunt falling to be my child’s sole fault. That is not the actions of a gym owner who cares about the success and well-being of children, only one who cares about her program winning and how much money she can make from parents.
To make matters worse, Cat is now withholding my child’s hard-earned NCA ring unless I pay additional money for a “contract termination fee” (because Cat kicked us out of the gym mid season), despite her own contract clearly stating that any award earned during a fully paid season belongs to the athlete. Holding a child’s earned award hostage contradicts her own written agreement and, in my opinion, feels like extortion. To clarify, the ring was won the season before we were removed from the gym, and that season was fully completed and paid for.
Luxe used to be a reputable, honest gym. That changed when Cat pushed out an incredible coach she had worked with for over a decade because he wanted a voice in team placements and routines. Instead, she hired new staff and paid them more while refusing to collaborate with someone who helped build the program. Since then, the culture has declined dramatically.
Toxic parent drama is allowed to thrive. Favorites are obvious. Certain mothers are catered to while others are dismissed. Parents are even pressured about what they can post on social media, and forced to delete posts that Cat doesn’t agree with. Multiple parents have reached out to me since we left to share how poorly they’ve been spoken to, and even coaches still employed there have confided that they are treated unfairly and not allowed to have opinions that differ from Cat.
I was threatened with a lawsuit for slander from Cat because I shared our horrible experience with other cheer moms who were worried about my child and myself.
What was once athlete-focused now feels money-driven. Safety, well-being, and integrity no longer appear to be the priority. Multiple athletes who have been at Luxe for multiple seasons have left because Cat is showing her true colors. She continuously raises the cost of everything, while purchasing luxury bags and taking lavish vacations. Money greed and Cat have ruined Luxe as a whole.
Five and a half seasons of commitment deserved professionalism and respect. Instead, we got rumors, retaliation, and a broken contract.
