I like this gym a lot. It’s clean, well-organized, and never feels chaotic, even during busy hours. The equipment is solid and well maintained, and there’s a great mix of strength and functional training options. The atmosphere is not intimidating!!

Jason is an excellent trainer and makes working out both effective and enjoyable. He’s knowledgeable and always takes the time to explain exercises and make sure form is correct. He really cares about helping people reach their goals and pushes you in a supportive way. He is flexible and makes sure to work around your schedule. In addition, he is a nutritionist and will help you develop a dietary plan. The gym is always clean, well-organized, and has a great atmosphere that makes you feel comfortable and motivated to train. Overall, it’s a great place to work out, and I highly recommend Jason and his gym to anyone looking for quality private training.

I’ve trained at big box gyms and boutique studios all over the Valley, but Alive Fitness is where I’ve settled. It’s the rare neighborhood gym that actually feels like a neighborhood gym. Jason and his team have been running this place since 2004, and it shows. The equipment is solid: plenty of free weights, machines, and cardio without the overcrowded chaos of commercial chains. The layout makes sense. You can get real work done. What stands out most is the atmosphere. No ego, no attitude. Just people putting in the work. The trainers here actually watch your form and care about keeping you healthy long term, not just crushing you for Instagram content. Parking is easy (huge plus for Van Nuys Blvd), and the hours work for early morning or after work sessions. It’s not fancy. It’s functional. Which is exactly what a serious gym should be.
