I am writing to share my recent experience as a new client at one of your YouFit Gym locations. I visited the facility with the intention of signing up for a membership and getting a feel for the gym environment. When I walked in, I was greeted by a staff member named Sidney at the front desk. I explained that I was interested in taking a look around the gym and possibly signing up for a membership. After signing in on the tablet, Sidney began to show me the facility and moved me into the machine area.During the conversation, he asked which gym I previously attended, and I told him that I came from Planet Fitness. At that point, he began strongly encouraging me to sign up for personal training, stating that this is what differentiates YouFit from other gyms and that trainers are necessary to properly prepare individuals for exercise.I explained clearly that I was not interested in personal training and that my goal was simply to continue my current routine, which consists of a 30-minute workout each day using the equipment. However, he responded by telling me that this was not a good approach and implied that coming in just to use the machines for a short workout would be a waste of my time and would not provide any real benefit.Additionally, he made comments suggesting that this type of gym usage is what members from Planet Fitness are used to, and they come in to slam the equipment and weight and that this was not the right way to use your facility. I found these remarks to be dismissive and judgmental, especially since he had no understanding of my fitness level or routine beyond the brief explanation I provided.Overall, the interaction made me feel as though he was discouraging me from signing up unless I agreed to personal training. Instead of feeling welcomed as a potential new member, I felt pressured, judged, and ultimately deterred from moving forward with a membership. In fact, it gave me the impression that I was being encouraged not to sign up at all.I want to be clear that this is the first time I have ever experienced a situation where a gym representative actively discouraged me from joining based on my preferred workout style. I did express this concern to him directly at the time. While I understand that personal training is an important service you offer, I believe it should be presented as an optionnot as a requirement or in a way that makes prospective members feel unwelcome or inadequate.I respectfully suggest that this matter be reviewed, and that Sidney be coached on how to approach prospective members in a more inclusive, respectful, and customer-focused manner. My intention in sharing this feedback is to help improve the experience for future members. I truly value what YouFit Gym has to offer and hope that my concerns will be taken seriously.
