I had the absolute worst experience of my life at this location today. I have been a member of the ymca for years. I went every single day. Today, my kids were off of school so I went to work out while they were in the daycare. When we were done, we went to the locker room to get changed and go swimming. While we were in the pool, my daughter started complaining about her skin burning from the chlorine. I took her into the VIP locker room that I pay for and where all of our clothes and towels were located. As I was helping her try to rinse all the chemicals off her body, I hear a lady ask- ‘is there a kid in here? Is there a kid in here so I responded yes, why? The lady rudely began to tell me that absolutely no kids were allowed in there. I explained to her that I paid for the family membership and the vip upgrade. She told me it didn’t matter and I responded with, ‘okay, I’ll stop at the front desk to get some clarity about this. As we were rushing to get dressed and leave, my daughter realized she forgot her shoes in the pool area. We ran back to get them as quickly as possible and when we came back to grab our belongings and leave, another woman came up to me and said mam, there are no kids allowed down here. I told her thank you, we are leaving and I’m sorry. As I’m zipping up my bag, ANOTHER employee approached me like we were committing a crime and said the same thing. I told her she was the third person in less than 5 minutes to approach me and that it was absolutely ridiculous. She said she was ‘scanning the area’ on camera. If that were true, she would have noticed that I had already been approached by two separate employees and I was rushing to get my child out of there. At this point, I was absolutely infuriated that I was harassed by three separate people about a CHILD who needed to rinse chlorine off of her body and who forgot her shoes. I would have absolutely been understanding if someone professional and politely told me as I was leaving that it wasn’t allowed, even though I paid $140 a month for my membership. We were in such a hurry to leave, I left both of our bathing suits in the drying machine for fear of being harrassed, AGAIN. With that being said; they say no lockers should be kept with locks on them. This only applies to people who AREN'T seniors, as many people have lockers like have permanent locks on them full of people’s belongings with their names on them. There were many times I wasn’t able to even find a locker. There were may times seniors would use the sauna to get changed instead of the dressing areas. This is NOT a gym, it’s a recreational place for seniors. The YMCA does NOT take the child’s wellbeing or safety into account. I am absolutely disgusted at the way my daughter and I were treated here today. I would not recommend this gym to anyone as the locker room smells like cat urine, the ceilings are always leaking and unless you’re a senior, you won’t be a valued customer.
