I wish there was less than one star because thats what this place would get. My daughter is 16 and we live so close to this Jim but weve been going to Planet Fitness and dedicated to them for the last three years almost daily. But on the rare times when Im just that busy that I cant get us to the gym, my daughter still wants to go and doesnt have her license yet so she decided to try out retro fitness before committing and moving both of us from Planet Fitness. She called and asked how she could just try the gym before signing any commitments, the rude girl on the phone told her that there is no option to do that unless she wanted a day pass she said it was 15. Desperate, my daughter decided to walk over there, which is a very short walk. When she got there, they demanded 20 for a day pass. She only had 40 so she gave half of all the money she had to this girl it was at 4 PM on a Sunday. The girl neglected to tell her that they close in an hour. During my daughters time there, before she knew she was gonna be kicked out in less than an hour after the reg and payment, she told me how horrible the equipment was there that the placement of the equipment and the ability to figure out how each of them work or adjust was totally unacceptable comparing to a Planet Fitness which we are used to. For example, they have machines where you have to bend over or squat, which, as a woman, you dont wanna be doing that in front of other people (its just something a gym should be considering when theyre placing each piece of equipment in a room) but every machine she uses daily during her workout routine, and she uses a lot of them, she didnt want to go on because she would have to bend over or squat with a ton of people working out on other machines- facing her direction. and it just feels inappropriate. She also told me that the machines there dont adjust for shorter people as much as all the machines in Planet Fitness do. Making them way more difficult to use. But the worst part out of this whole experience and why I was strongly advocate to anyone not to go there is the following: the rude girl behind the counter took my daughters 20 for a day pass not telling her the gym closes early only on that day in less than an hour. Every other day, the gym is open till 10 or 11 at night but that day they close at 5 PM. They are lucky they got her 20 because just the fact that they didnt offer one free hour at least or no cost tour to just look around and assess whether you want to commit to that gym or not, wouldve turned me around and walked me right out the door immediately. So as long as I live in Tuckerton near this gym, I will be going way out of my way taking a few exes all the way down the parkway to a gym who is friendly, appreciates us and doesnt overcharge/take advantage of customers, knowing that in the long run, they will have our hard earned money because they actually deserve it. Thank you retro Fitness for showing me how much I should appreciate planet fitness!
