I wanted to like this location. For a few months, I did. The instructors were good and I met some motivational classmates. Then there was turnover of instructors, and it wasn’t good. I started going less, and I decided to cancel, then left the state for a new job. I confirmed with the staff that my membership had been canceled, I stopped getting emails or any communications from Orange Theory, and I thought that chapter was closed.
Now I have realized I’ve been getting charged almost $200/month by this location for a whole year. They never sent an email indicating they were charging me, and I was promised my card had been deleted from their system when they canceled my membership so I wouldn’t even have to worry about it.
As for trying to “cancel” again—this location has ignored my emails and calls. But here’s the problem with that. As the end user, you cannot cancel your membership in any other way than speaking to them. You can’t delete your card on the website (though you can delete your access to the website), and you can’t cancel your membership.
The bottom line is this is a dodgy way to do business. I’m not sure if it’s just this location, or Orangetheory as a whole, but I won’t be back. The gym and experience isn’t even that good. The rowing machines are extremely low quality, and the equipment is pretty limited.
If anybody has had similar experiences, please share and apply pressure. I do not want to see others getting tricked. And if you have not yet signed up for this location--be very careful. They will exploit every available avenue to be sure they keep milking you for cash and make it impossible to stop the charges; I live out of state, and with their unwillingness to cooperate I am having to try to resolve this on my credit card issuer end. It's the last thing I expected from a known and trusted national brand like Orange Theory that has significant customer loyalty and recognition.
