Lucille Roberts is a women’s gym which started in New York City and expanded to several states in the US and even overseas, in Switzerland. Owner Lucille opened her first aerobics gym in 1969 with the aim of creating a positive, inclusive and fun environment for people to exercise and achieve their fitness goals. LR saw significant growth in the late 1990s but has somewhat been on a decline lately. Lucille Roberts Customer Reviews

I have been a member at the Clifton Lucille Roberts for over a year and really enjoy the Zumba Class with Eve Kalloudis. Eve always comes into class welcoming everyone, asks if anyone is new to Zumba, and makes her classes fun and inclusive. I really like the workout music she uses, changes it up to keep it new and interesting. Eve will mix with the class to interact and encourage everyone to enjoy exercising with each other. At the end of class, Eve thanks us all for joining her and will wish everyone a great day. A great instructor for sure!

Great gym with lots of classes and equipment. Lost 20 lbs in the course of 1 year, attending regular classes and using the machines. This is an encouraging gym and supportive environment for getting fit!! If you are on the fence, go for it. You won’t regret it.

I went in for a consult and for some info on the gym. They were friendly and helpful, the place looked very clean and modern. The staff I spoke with answered my questions and gave me the time. I recommend this business, especially for women who want a gym only for them. This place has been here for a long time.

I’ve been a long time member of this gym, I’ve been going here for about 12 years now on and off. I remember the “dark days” of Lucille Roberts where you had to sign up to use a machine in half hour increments. The real selling point of this gym for me is the sauna. I personally, as someone who’s suffered from allergies and sinus conditions her whole life, find that the $26 monthly membership fee I pay (Alumni price) is worth that alone. It is true that many of the machines are old and/or broken. However, I do feel it is a nice simple gym where you can enjoy a workout from creepy men. It’s rarely ever packed. However, what has driven me to consider other gyms is the hours here – ABSOLUTELY SUCK. The gym should be open later, ESPECIALLY on the weekends but now, to top it all off – THEY DECIDED TO CLOSE ON SATURDAY! WTF?!? What sense does that make? This totally kills my drive to continue my membership here, as someone who works every weekday, I always enjoyed spending my Saturday mornings at Lucille Roberts, the only day during the week in which I could actually take my time.
Thoughts on Lucille Roberts Membership
Lucille Roberts may not be as good as it used to but the membership rates are still quite competitive. The Lucille Roberts membership cost for single club access is only $34.99 per month and you’ll be able to use the saunas, pools and other amenities on top of your gym access. If you are looking for an all-women’s gym Lucille Roberts may be a good option for you.
