I have been a member of Life Time for over 10 years across several Twin Cities locations as I moved around the area. Most recently I was a member at the Eagan location after relocating here. During my time with Life Time, I built great relationships with many staff members including the chiropractor, trainers, stretching staff, yoga instructors, front desk team, and even the cleaning crew. Life Time has always felt like a community to me, and Ive always tried to treat everyone there with respect and appreciation.Because of that long history, it was very disappointing to have the experience that occurred last summer. On a Sunday evening around 8:30 pm, I arrived at the club. I understood the club closed at 9:00 pm. I dont usually attend on Sunday nights and was unaware that the hot tub area closed earlier at 8:30 pm. When I entered the sauna and hot tub area around 8:35 pm there were no signs indicating it had closed, and no staff members present. As I was getting out of the hot tub shortly afterward, an employee approached me and said I was not supposed to be there because the hot tub had closed 30 minutes earlier. I explained that I wasnt aware of that and that there were no signs indicating the area was closed. I told him I would rinse off the chlorine quickly and leave. The employee asked me to retrieve my belongings immediately. At that moment I was wet, cold, and only in my swim trunks. I explained that it made more sense for me to quickly rinse off first and then gather my belongings and leave. I rinsed off quickly (without soap or shampoo), dried off, got dressed, and exited the building within about ten minutes. When I walked outside, two police cars were waiting along with the employee, and I was issued a trespass notice. I tried to explain the situation, but the officers said they were required to issue the notice once the business requested it.The following day I called the club to try to explain the situation to the General Manager. I was told she would call me back, but I never received a call. Later I received a call from corporate informing me that my membership had been suspended.I want to be clear that this review is not meant as a complaint against the employee or the General Manager. Its possible there was a misunderstanding about what happened that evening. My intention was never to break any rules or be disrespectful. I simply believed it was reasonable to quickly rinse off before leaving.Until that evening, every experience I had at Life Time had been positive and respectful. Over the years, I had always observed staff politely reminding members when the club was closing and allowing them a reasonable amount of time to gather their belongings, change, or shower before leaving. My purpose in sharing this experience is simply to hope for a better resolution. My membership at Life Time has meant a lot to me physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually and I truly valued being part of that community.Ideally, I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with someone and have my membership reinstated.
