Cancelled 2 memberships. Why:Declining gym. Not safe for minority communities, women over 40, nor for female disabled veterans... in a *Military Town.*Summary:We were discriminated against at this location, twice, by an elder man at the front desk. My wife was wearing a PTSD awareness t-shirt and yellow goggles in the middle of processing her trauma when the first occurrence took place. (Read the room, my guy.)The second occurrence was the same person, retaliating now against me, after my original complaint against him, so the issue has now escalated.1. This should have been successfully addressed and prevented.2. The retaliation should have been grounds for termination.3. My wife and I are under three protected classes, and your staff member is a continued liability.Attempts to Speak with Management:Since there did not yet appear to be a GM employed, I asked for the assistant manager to call me back to discuss the ongoing issue, she never did. I returned twice more and asked again to speak with her in person--she was working on site but declined to see me. Then I resorted to email. My complaint was descriptive, but non-aggressive. I simply wanted a resolve.Company's Response:Management used religious rhetoric to help me feel better that all was well. That did not make things better for us, because the staff member then retaliated against me shortly after this. Is this a church-sponsored gym, or is this a fitness facility with a mission for "No Judgements" and inclusivity?Does management realize there are all kinds of people who come here? We all strive for similar goals, and yet, not all are treated equally here.Cancellation:After a lack of interest in resolving our issue, to call me back, or to successfully reassure us we wouldn't experience the same treatment again, I returned once more to cancel in person, as we had opted to go back to Planet Fitness.I noticed the same staff member employed at the same post as before, and was never reassigned. I was told that this gym's cancellation policy is to make the patron wait until after the next ACH draft date *AND* that a manager has to be present in order to cancel membership.Putting two obstacles in the path of cancellation is simply unacceptable (and outdated) business practice, especially if the service rendered is not the service promised or contracted.Escalation:I escalated to the Area Manager, Lydia Coccitto, for help cancelling my membership. She did nothing to help me other than to further disrespect me, then passed me off to the now newly hired GM. I did not feel comfortable putting this on the new hire, and neither should have Lydia.Lydia, the right thing to do is to immediately address the issue in the middle of staffing changes. What kind of impression are you giving your new GM and patrons? People act on what they prioritize, and we were simply not prioritized at all. Our issue was of zero importance to her.Management Response to Escalation:After demanding immediate cancellation, I was ghosted for weeks at a time. Then they finally waited until my next ACH draft date came up to helpfully say "Okay, we'll cancel now." So it means that they forced me to pay for another month I am not receiving any services for, before giving me a cancellation form. How is this legal? Why Planet Fitness is Better:We used to regularly attend PF, but we eventually wanted more advanced equipment. Crunch seemed exciting at its first launch last year (2025). Lots of activity, classes, training sessions, weigh in available, etc. After a while, we started to notice a decline. Ripped mats. No paper towel at the racks. Grime at the machines. Closing down at night without sanitizing for the next morning. Gross.Planet Fitness cleans more than any other gym we've been to. They're always wiping down individual machines, cleaning floors. I never see grime. Clearly their standards are much higher, and they truly live up to the "No Judgements" mission statement.Sorry, Crunch Jacksonville, but you
