This gym needs to implement etiquette rules and enforce them, because the behavior of some members can be rude, disrespectful and inconsiderate.First, there's no time limit on equipment use (many gyms enforce a 30-mins maximum during busy periods, but that doesnt seem to happen here). As a result, members frequently monopolize machines for extended periods. It's also common to see people "reserve" equipment by leaving towels or belongings while rotating across multiple machines at once, making the hoarding and congestion worse.To make things even more tedious, the gym only has 2 squat racks and because of the lack of time limit they are often occupied for very long sessions (as I'm typing this, the same person has been monopolizing a rack for over 1 hour).This all makes it very tedious to complete a basic workout.

I generally enjoy working out at the Crunch Fitness location on 54th St, but Ive noticed some inconsistent enforcement of equipment etiquette.On one occasion, a trainer asked me to return the sled on the turf to its starting position before my next exercise, which I did. The next day I saw another member use the same sled in front of that same trainer and leave it out without being asked to move it. Ive had similar situations with the hex bar as well, and this has happened multiple times.Im always willing to follow gym rules and put equipment back when asked. However, the inconsistency and occasional attitude from trainers can disrupt my workout. When Im working out early in the morning before work, situations like this sometimes prevent me from finishing my workout on time. At times it can feel like Im being micromanaged or singled out while others are not addressed in the same way, which can be discouraging and take away from the workout experience.

Horrible experience with the staff members.I am a frequent traveller between NYC and abroad for the past 2 years. I joined Crunch around 3 years ago. the gym on 54th was ok, nothing to complain. But as I was moving out of the country from Dec 2025, I came in to cancel my membership one day before my flight on Dec 2025, and was told it was all taken care of and I will be charged only Jan 2026 fee. this is reasonable so I am good.Then when I was overseas in February 2026, I noticed another 90 charge on my credit card from Crunch so I called them up, explained the situation and also the fact that I am not in NYC so please do not charge me. They refused to cancel saying my membership was still active. I was speechless but fine.I came back to NYC 3rd March and the second day I walked in to cancel. I was told manager was away from the front desk but he got the message and will call me to cancel.I waited a day and never got a call or any form of communication. so I called again and finally got an email saying I can't cancel it since I do not have proof of my original request of cancellation. THIS IS RIDICULOUS.Now i am past my due time with this cancellation game. I just changed my card and let credit card company handle them. For anyone who is considering joining, you can find a decent gym, like, for life. They will make sure you have a lifetime membership.For proof, I attached my gym card.What a joke.
