Bay Club sent out the 2025 Annual Update back in 2024 announcing major renovations at Marinnew locker rooms, expanded fitness space, and new amenities.Those major renovations never happened, dues went up.Now, in the newly released 2026 Annual Update, theres another monthly dues increase for 2026 and another promise of renovationsthis time phrased as:Were looking forward to renovations and expanded spaces coming to Marin in 2026 as we work on the plans.The difference in language is pretty telling.The 20242025 announcement sounded confident and definitive about actual renovations.The 20252026 announcement feels hesitant, uncertainas if the plans are still just concepts, not real commitments.Meanwhile, the Marin facility is still a 20-year-old, moldy, outdated space, and members are paying more year after year with nothing to show for it.Its hard not to see this as classic private-equity behavior: squeeze members, over-promise, under-deliver, and rely on price increases rather than actual investment. Unfortunately, that seems to be the culture at Bay Club right now.
