Choosing a gym is a big decision. You have to take into consideration a lot of things like the price, amenities, location, equipment and the atmosphere in the gym. One of the most popular big box gym chains out there is 24 Hour Fitness, with monthly memberships starting at $15.99. However, you can save more if you get an annual membership. I’ll share the details below.

There’s one 24 Hour Fitness gym close to where I work, on Wilshire Blvd and I’d been itching to check it out for quite some time. So a few weeks back my friend and I went there to ask about 24 Hour Fitness membership costs.

Why 24 Hour Fitness?

There are several reasons why people choose 24 Hour Fitness. First, there’s the convenience. You can basically go to the gym whenever you want, day or night – because they’re open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Plus the price is very reasonable. More on this in a bit.

I also like the vibe in this gym, or at least the one I visited. It has a fun and welcoming environment and you meet all sorts of people from pros to newbies. The gym is modern enough with lots of equipment and workout machines too.

Membership Options at 24 Hour Fitness

At 24 Hour Fitness, you have three membership options to choose from. But keep in mind, facilities and offerings can vary by location, so it’s best to check with your local club before making a decision.

Silver Membership

This is the basic membership and it offers access to essential gym equipment for cardio and strength training. Not every city has a silver membership option, so be sure to check with your local club. Features include free weights, cardio equipment, functional training areas, TRX suspension training, strength machines, Olympic training rigs, free Wi-Fi, and locker rooms.

Gold Membership

The gold membership includes all the perks of silver plus some additional bonuses. You’ll get access to 24GO®, a fitness app offering thousands of in-gym and virtual workouts, as well as GX24® studio classes like Zumba, yoga, Pilates, and more. Plus, you’ll have access to GX24® cycle classes, basketball and racquetball courts, a lap pool, sauna, steam room, and whirlpool.

Platinum Membership

This is the top-tier option that lets you enjoy everything from the silver and gold memberships, along with a few added perks like access to 24GO® digital fitness app, GX24® virtual classes, and the ability to bring two guests to the gym for free every time you visit. Plus, you’ll have unlimited access to nearly 300 24 Hour Fitness gyms across 11 states.

How Much Does 24 Hour Fitness Cost?

Like most gym chains, 24 Hour Fitness membership costs vary depending on your location. The best way to get the exact price is to input your zip code into the “Find a Gym” tool on their website and select your nearest gym to see the specific pricing.

Here’s a breakdown of the estimated cost for 24 Hour Fitness memberships based on my inquiries from a few of their fitness clubs near me.

  • Platinum: $299.88 upfront ($24.99/month) to $397.87 upfront ($33.16/month)

Also, 24 Hour Fitness offers a 3-day pass for those who want to test the waters before committing. You can use this pass across multiple locations, but it’s only available if you haven’t been a member or guest at the gym in the past six months.

Is 24 Hour Fitness Open on Holidays?

Many 24 Hour Fitness gyms have reduced hours on major holidays like Christmas Eve, Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day. For example, 24 Hour Fitness in Moraga Rheem CA was open until 2pm on Thanksgiving Day, and re-opened at 6AM the next day. They also closed at 2PM on December 24th and closed on Christmas Day.

Does 24 Hour Fitness Have an Annual Fee?

Yes 24 Hour Fitness has an annual fee of $54.99.

Are Guest Passes Available at 24 Hour Fitness?

Coach Monae is pretty great! She helped me target areas on my body that I felt really insecure about and educated me my form plus my overall performance! Very helpful and grateful I got to meet this woman! 10/10 definitely recommend her!

First time back to this gym since the start of COVID. The receptionist was really friendly, you check in on their app and scan the code. Super simple and it seems like they may have improved. They are active on social media and are posting new classes as they are being added to the schedule with the exact times and instructors…Also, all of the toilets were actually available to use; before one or two was always “out of service”. Keep up the good work!!
